December Details

2009 has passed quickly and we hope everyone is enjoying the festivities of this time of year. TangoSpace had a wonderful Christmas milonga with fantastic dances and great company. We hope to continue this tradition in 2010. TangoSpace Wednesday practicas are only on for two more weeks in December. We are having a short break on December 30 just to take a breather before we kick-start 2010. We will be back on-deck January 6 2010. Hope you can join us. Next year promises to be an exciting time for us. We would love for you to be part of it.

Christmas Milonga

The year is winding down already and after the Homer and Cristina cyclone we are ready to chill out at TangoSpace with our Christmas mini-milonga. We invite everyone to come down to the river for some relaxing tango and chill-out tunes as we reflect upon a dynamic year of tango and look forward to exciting new opportunities in 2010. On Saturday the 12th December 2009, come down to TangoSpace from 7:00pm - 10:00pm $10 entry at The Strand in Applecross for an early tango evening.

Milonga

Thank you to everyone who came to our milonga on Saturday evening. It was a wonderful night with lots of lovely dancing and a performance by Homer and Cristina. We thank them for their enthusiasm and inspiration. We also thank everyone who helped on the night. Your assistance was much appreciated. Our December event will be a Christmas celebration but will be low-key. We all need a big rest after the energy we have put into hosting Homer and Cristina. But we are also looking forward to sharing more tango with all of you in the new year.

Homer and Cristina at TangoSpace

This Wednesday TangoSpace will be running one workshop with Homer and Cristina on Di Sarli from 7:00pm - 8:30pm. After the workshop the practica will run as normal for $7 entry with Homer and Cristina hanging around to answer questions and guide your practice. Then, on Saturday, you can see Homer and Cristina perform at our milonga from 7:00pm - 10:00pm @ The Strand in Applecross $25 entry. Hope to see you there.

Back in Business

The maintenance on the Waylen Bay Hall has been completed. We have a nice new roof now. So this week TangoSpace is back better than ever 7:45pm - 10:00pm Wednesday, $7.00 entry. We look forward to seeing you. Also at Homer and Cristina workshops, concepts, milongas and practicas over the next few weeks. It's an exciting time for us at TangoSpace and we are enthusiastic to share it with you. See you soon.

Wednesday 28th October 2009

There will be no TangoSpace running this Wednesday the 28th of October 2009. Due to scheduled maintenance on the Waylen Bay Hall that has not been completed, we cannot use the Hall this week. Next week everything should be back on track. Apologies for the inconvenience.

November

We welcome you to a very special TangoSpace event on November 14th 2009, 7:00pm - 10:00pm @ The Strand in Applecross. Plans are under way to make our November milonga something special. Homer and Cristina Ladas will be in Perth from the 7th of November and will be performing at our milonga. In light of this special evening the entry fee is $25. But you can be assured of a scintillating night of cool tango on a warm November evening down by the river on The Strand. We hope to see you there.

A Great Night!

Thank you to everyone - regulars, new people and occasional visitors - who came to TangoSpace on the weekend. It was an awesome night. We had heaps of fun and hope you did too. A very special thanks to all the leaders who danced two special occasion dances. You guys are troopers.

October Mini-Milonga

Our October mini-milonga is going to be held on Saturday the 10th @ The Strand in Applecross from 7:00pm - 10:00pm, $10.00 entry. It's going to be a low-key affair, but come on down to chill out by the river on (hopefully) a nice spring evening. See you there.

September Milonga

The year is passing fast and we are already heading towards warmer weather. No better place for tango than down by the river at TangoSpace as the nights get lighter and brighter. Come down to chill out and dance to an eclectic mix of old and new tango tunes.

A Big Week of Tango

We've had a very busy week in tango. Thanks to everyone who did lessons with Lucia Mazer. It was wonderful to see you making use of her short visit to Perth. Hopefully when she comes back next time, we'll be able to make it an even bigger event. Thanks also to everyone who came to our milonga on the weekend. The weather was nasty, but you all showed up anyway, proving that tango is for the dedicated. We had a great time and feel privileged that you helped us achieve such a good night. Our next mini-milonga is only two weeks away on July 11th 2009. Too much tango is never enough. See you there.

June Mini-Milonga

Our June mini-milonga is on Saturday the 27th June 2009, 7:00pm - 10:00pm, $10.00 entry @ The Strand in Applecross. We are really looking forward to it and to seeing you there. Our July mini-milonga is back on our regular second Saturday, so get ready for some accelerated tango in the next few weeks as we make a quick turn around in our event schedule.

Lucia Mazer

One of the best tango dancers in the world - Lucia Mazer - will be visiting Perth in the last week of June 2009. She will be available for private lessons between Monday the 22nd June and Thursday the 25th inclusive. Lessons are charged at $130AUD per hour. It's Pablo Inza's birthday this week - Saturday the 30th May. To honour the man, the myth, the legend, we've rotated our video bar to feature videos of his performances. Happy Birthday Pablo.

Fabulous Frocks and Timeless Tango

A big thank you to everyone who came to celebrate Elizabeth's birthday at our mini-milonga on the weekend. Elizabeth has said she had a wonderful time as we did too. Our June mini-milonga has been pushed back to the 27th after which we will have a very quick turn around back to our second Saturday slot in July. We look forward to seeing you.

Mario and Anabella

We hope you enjoyed Mario and Anabella's visit. It was really great to see them again and absorb all the wonderful concepts that challenge our tango. They're heading off to Sydney now. But if you're still wanting more, I've added the link to their blog in our links bar.

May Mini-Milonga

TangoSpace is holding its May mini-milonga on Saturday the 23rd, 7:00pm - 10:00pm, $10.00 entry at The Strand in Applecross. We look forward to seeing everyone for a night of chilled out tunes and tantalizing tango by the river.

More May Movement

The month of May is offering up some challenges for scheduling. Our mini-milonga is being moved, yet again, back one week to the 23rd May 2009. Let's hope this one holds. Fingers crossed. June is also looking to be an interesting month for movement in our calendar. We will try not to disrupt or alter too many plans. We thank you for your patience during this unstable period in our timetabling. Hopefully it will all smooth out soon enough. Finally, a big welcome to our first 'follower' Angelina. Great to have you on-board.

May Update

We're barely into April. But there's so much going on we need a May update to keep track of TangoSpace movements. JRDA have announced that Mario and Anabella will be visiting Perth from the 6th to the 12th May 2009. So, once again TangoSpace will be moving its monthly mini-milonga to the third Saturday in May which will be the 16th. We will be attending workshops, private lessons and performances so we are going to be way too occupied while Mario and Anabella are here. 2009 seems to be a busy year and we thank you for your patience in following our seemingly ever-changing schedule. June will also see us reorganising times and events so stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.

April

In April we are back to our regular second Saturday of the month for the TangoSpace mini-milonga. Our social is running on April 11th 2009 from 7:00pm - 10:00pm $10.00 entry at The Strand in Applecross. Make the most of the remaining summer weather and enjoy a dance alongside the river.

Mini-Milonga

Special Event

June 20th and 21st 2009 will see Flipside Tango, Toucan Tango, and event coordinators TangoSpace hold a special event for Perth tango dancers. More details will be released as the date gets closer. But in the mean time, make a note in your diary to hold those dates open.

March Mini-Milonga

This month, our mini-milonga has been pushed back one week. Saturday the 21st March 2009 we will be running our social dance. We look forward to seeing everyone from 7:00pm - 10:00pm at The Strand in Applecross, $10.00 entry.

Tangocamp 2009

Tangocamp is a series of tango festivals held across Europe in cities including Rome: Italy, Evia Island: Greece, Tylosand: Sweden, and Dusseldorf: Germany. This year they are running special seminars with Gustavo Naveira and Giselle-Anne to accompany the major festival events. There are currently about 700 participants enrolled in Tangocamp across Europe and about 100 people are looking for a leader or follower to partner them in classes/workshops. CITA 2009

March 16th and 17th are two days of jam-packed tango in Argentina with CITA 2009. Guests this year include Sebastian Arce and Mariana Montes, Claudia Codega and Esteban Moreno, Carolina del Rivero and Donato Juarez, Damien Rosenthal and Celine Ruiz, Chicho Frumboli and Juana Sepulveda, Julio Balmaceda and Corina de la Rosa, Adrian Veredice and Alejandra Hobert. March up-date

Due to a scheduling conflict with the Scouts at The Strand in Applecross, we will not be able to host our mini-milonga on the second Saturday of March - the 14th. Instead, we will be moving our mini-milonga to the third Saturday, the 21st March 2009 - for March only. In April we will be back to our usual time-slot. Hope to see you there.

Valentines Day Mini-Milonga

Thanks to everyone who came to our Valentines Day mini-milonga. It was great to see you and the touches of red that filled the dance floor. We had a great time and hope you did too. It was a vibrant start to the year and we hope to see you at many more milongas. Take care.

TangoSpace in Red

February 14th 2009 is our next mini-milonga, from 7:00pm - 10:00pm, $10.00 entry @ The Strand in Applecross. In honour of Valentines Day we are going Red. Wear something red when you choose your dancing ensemble - red shoes, socks, a scarf, clip in your hair - wear as much or little red as you like. But remember: No Red No Entry.

First Milonga

Planning is currently under way for our first mini-milonga for 2009. Considering it falls on Valentine's Day, February 14th 2009, we have something special up our sleeve. Stay tuned for more information. In the mean-time, keep tangoing.

New Beginnings

Thanks to everyone who came to our first practica for the year. It was wonderful to see you. A special thanks to Tim and Jasmine who started us off with an innovative and challenging concept. They have set the tone for this year. Hopefully there will be more challenges to come. Take care.

TangoSpace starts this week on Wednesday the 14th January 2009. Our practica is designed for the exploration of tango ideas and concepts. So bring along something you want to practice and work through your ideas. Then, when the lights are turned low - jam it - work out how to integrate your new idea into your tango.
